Good times...

Tonight, Cristy and I headed up to see Caily's little abode on campus. We made a detour to the outlets (who can resist the outlets!) and of course, came up away with a few purchases! Then Caily drove us to her place and cooked up some delicious Trader Joe's pasta and garlic bread. We commemorated the momentous occasion with some photos that, I think, demonstrate our personalities pretty well! So, without further ado, and since Cristy prefers less reading and more pictures, I will direct your attention below:

Charm school, here we come. Cristy gets top marks!

Caily and Julie tossing gang signs (or something) and Cristy continuing to enjoy her popsicle!

Super unflattering picture but but too amusing not to post!

Glowing!

Today I had a co-worker tell me I was, "glowing".  She mentioned it several times and asked if I had any news. I have no news, none at all!! I HAVE been using a new little deal that I think is doing good things for my skin, though. So, in lieu of something more deep, I will share my little miracle tool (that I've only been using for 3 days). It's the Clarisonic Mia (these are the makers of the Sonicare toothbrush) and I bought it in pink because I could. Here's a link to it: Clarisonc Mia. I'd been eyeing this product for a while but hadn't been willing to shell out the dough. A recent discount that came my way from Sephora and yet another blogger raving over it's awesomeness and I hit the buy button.

It's quite easy to use, just get the brush wet, add a little cleanser, and hold it against your face, moving it in small circles. The cool thing is that it is waterproof and can be used in shower. I'm wishing now I had taken a picture of my skin before I started it so I could compare to how it is two weeks from now. Alas, I did not have a blog then and wasn't trying to think of things to write about! Anyway, I thought I would share my newest little gadget.

Where in the world?

I'm not one to dumpster dive on a normal day, but I did find a winner just recently! People are always leaving things by the side of the dumpster where I live, things I suppose, people MIGHT want. Not too long ago, there was a bag of Depends and a pair of old, brown, leather shoes. I have no idea if those were picked up by some needy soul but I do know I left those treats behind. But, back to my own tale of  claiming other people's trash as my very own. I was throwing out some trash, as one does, and glimpsed my treasure:
Now you must understand, I've been wanting a globe for ages to add some worldly flair to my guest room. While I have seen some beauties, they have all been out of my price range and so happening upon this little gem was a happy moment. A few furtive glances at the unopened garages and another glance or two at the windows above, a quick grab, and I trotted quickly back to my place with my prize.
The bottom leaves a lot to be desired but the colors, turquoises and blues, are perfect for my guest room. Take a closer look at the bottom:
Is there any help for it? Would it help to spray paint it white? Or do any of my many (ha!) readers have any other ideas to help me turn my globe with a trashy past into a classy globe worthy of my guests?

Sunday, Sunday

We had a wonderful meeting this morning and then the bunch of us, including, Caily, Quinton and Cristy, Daniel, Melissa, and Jackson, and Mom headed to Chipotle for a delicious lunch. Good laughs and great fellowship made for a perfect after-meeting lunch! Caily, Mom, and I went over to Starbucks after lunch to chat and enjoy holiday coffees and then rounded out the day with a trip to Trader Joe's! You just can't beat all the good eats at Trader Joe's! I was planning on heading home when Caily encouraged me to go back over to mom and dad's, saying, "I think it would be good if you came over for a few minutes!" I agreed and headed over to Mom's. Turns out, Mom had a surprise for me- a shiny, red KitchenAid Mixer!!! I've been wanting one for ages and it was the most wonderful surprise! Thanks, Mom!! I made a batch of chocolate chip cookies to christen the new toy. Good thing I have co-workers who are willing to help eat them up!
Shiny, new mixer!

Is this my best side?
First batch of cookies with the new mixer!
